Steve has twenty years experience of student recruitment and has expertise in the transition to higher education, character education, curriculum design and admissions policy.  He has sat on numerous national committees and expert panels and was notably a member of the development team which contributed to the reform of the UCAS tariff mechanism for 2017 entry. Steve's interests outside work include sea swimming, photography and all things Bob Dylan.

Nia Stokes

Undergraduate Recruitment Manager

As interim Manager of the Undergraduate Recruitment team, Nia coordinates the work of Recruitment Officers and aligns this with the University’s recruitment strategy. Her role involves organising the schedule of higher education fairs, as well as organising material delivery for these, and managing relationships with external companies. She also works with subject faculties to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach towards outreach at Swansea. Nia has worked in recruitment for over 3 years, starting out as a Student Recruitment Assistant and progressing to work as an Officer for the Midlands region.

Undergraduate Recruitment Officer - London

Vanessa is the contact for schools and colleges in the London region and can deliver and assist with events, both physical and virtual. She joined the team at Swansea University in December 2018 after having previously worked as a careers lead in a large FE college for 4 years. Vanessa is based in London, and provides the link between London and Swansea. She really enjoys meeting students from different areas, supporting them with the UCAS process and their HE choices.

Undergraduate Recruitment Officer - South West England

Ben's remit within Swansea University’s Recruitment Office is to help bridge the gap between higher education links and schools in the South West of England. His role encompasses all aspects of marketing and includes building relationships with schools and colleges to share opportunities and events for students to get involved with. He delivers talks and workshops to students, covering a range of areas that aim to develop their understanding of higher education, UCAS processes, and support their future aspirations. Ben has previously worked within Swansea's Development and Alumni Office and connected with the University's vast alumni community through a combination of high profile and small intimate events, philanthropic opportunities and much more. He very much enjoys speaking with students - be it prospective, current or alumni - playing a small part in their university experience.

Emily Rees

Undergraduate Recruitment Officer - Wales

Emily is the Welsh Medium Officer and is the recruitment contact for Wales. She can deliver virtual and in-person sessions in both English and Welsh. Emily has worked at the University for over 3 years and has previously worked at MyUniHub within the university providing student support; because of this she is knowledgeable about the student journey and the student support available after enrolment. Emily enjoys meeting students and building relationships with schools in her region.

Selena Lockett

Undergraduate Recruitment Officer- Midlands

Selena has previously worked as a Student Recruitment Assistant in the team, as well as a Student Ambassador during her Undergraduate studies at Swansea University. She remains as a Recruitment Officer for the Midlands Region to connect with prospective students and impart her experience of studying at the University. Selena delivers presentations regarding student life and experience, providing guidance for choosing universities and accommodation, academic expectations and support, and university life. From creating and maintaining relationships with schools to engaging with student outreach activities, she has extensive experience at various stages of student journeys in higher education. The aspect of her employment she enjoys the most is engaging with prospective students and their families and deploying her own experience and passion for higher education.
