About

Having completed my PhD at Swansea University and prior to joining the College, I worked with Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research, Data and Methods (WISERD) Research Centre at Swansea University, Queen Mary, University of London, and with the International Growth Centre, London School of Economics. I am also Fellow of Higher of Education Academy and teach various areas of Economics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Throughout these experiences I have developed what I believe is a considerable knowledge and I very much look forward to sharing this knowledge and experience with you as a student of The College, Swansea University.

BUS103 Business Economics

This module provides students with an understanding of the fundamental theories and concepts of micro and macro-economics by combining theory with application to real world examples, events and situations in areas such as market competition, price determination, business costs and decision making, how the economy works and the effects of government policies on the economy; providing students with a sound basis and contextual background to their ongoing studies in economics, business and finance at Level 1.
EC-1011J Principles of Microeconomics

This module provides a rigorous understanding of basic micro-economic principles by combining theory and application to contemporary issues, such that students have a sound basis for progression to study economics at Level 5.
EC-1014J Economics for Accounting and Finance

This module provides a sound understanding of basic micro-and macro-economic principles by combining theory and application to contemporary issues, such that students have a solid basis for progression to understand the context for business/finance actions in the wider economy.
EC-1516J Approaches to Economic Analysis

The module outlines the principal aspects of modern economic analysis, the relationship to other approaches within science, and provides coverage (inter alia) of the nature and purpose of economic models, and of the distinctions to be drawn between theoretical, empirical and experimental work. The module allows students to have alternative perspectives that go beyond the mainstream `economic theory¿. The module provides students with the opportunity to develop a key communication skill, namely presenting to an audience using appropriate software.

The module will provide an overview of the statistical methods necessary for economic analysis, focusing specifically on the use of computer packages to conduct statistical analysis.

IC-1525 Enterprise and Creativity: Entrepreneurship in Practice

This module aims to provide an introduction for learners to:(a) the practice of becoming entrepreneurial;(b) Using creativity and creative thinking to generate and develop opportunities(c) the development of entrepreneurial ways of thinking and doing; and,(d) the exploitation of opportunities in the achievement of value. This practical course will help learners to develop their own ideas and pursue personal achievement by developing and delivering a project that will make a difference in their communities. The module focuses on the underpinning and fundamental requisites for innovation, new venture creation and successful commercialisation ¿ the entrepreneurial mindset, skills and behaviours of individuals who are seeking to create their own futures and make a difference in their world. It emphasises the importance of developing new ways of thinking and doing; the need for self-reliance and self-belief; the capacity for identifying needs and problems and seeing them as challenges and opportunities; the ability to take action, execute solutions, manage risk and failure and take responsibility for the consequences.
MN-0502 Economics
