Travelteer is at the forefront of responsible travel and ethical volunteering. Having seen first-hand the positive impact that volunteering can have on local communities, the organisation has created a variety of charitable programmes that utilise volunteer skill sets to make a real difference. Their philosophy blends awe-inspiring adventure with high impact volunteering while maintaining a safe, social environment. The projects all support Travelteer Impact (their Charity), where 100% of student fund raising goes directly to the projects in Sri Lanka, Nepal and Costa Rica.

Travelteer runs the following programme based in Costa Rica:

  • Sea Turtle Conservation programme - Working with local Cost Rican partners the Sea Turtle Conservation program has developed a number of sustainable projects that make a real impact on the Pacific Coastline. Volunteers will assist with several hands-on conservation projects that include night-time beach patrols for flipper tagging and data collection of nesting females and morning patrols to help with nest relocation. Additionally, volunteers will also get involved with beach clean-ups, plastic classification, tree planting and other maintenance projects.

In addition to the programme costs, all participants are required to fundraise a minimum of £75 per week they volunteer. Volunteers who are doing a placement of 4 weeks or more have a maximum required threshold of £300. The money raised enables Travelteer to buy equipment and develop the programmes further. 100% of the money raised goes directly to the programme that you volunteer in.
