Think Pacific’s virtual internship program connects you with government, business and charity sectors in Fiji, providing you with a personal and professional development experience like no other.

What is a Virtual Internship? Virtual internships are internships that are done online or remotely from your home. All you need is a computer, phone and internet connection. Think Pacific will connect you with real life issues and programmes happening ten thousand miles away. As well as the coaching and support to help you achieve real outcomes.

You’ll gain relevant and purposeful experience whilst working remotely on behalf of Think Pacific's Fijian partners. Work on individual or group projects that mean you can make a difference, by supporting government ministries, social enterprises or charities, to implement the Fiji National Development Plan and UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Develop your skills and connect with other students from around the world, whilst working alongside and learning from Charity Trustees, International Development Teams, local Fijian staff and Government Advisors. This program is designed to help you to learn, grow and contribute, whilst significantly enhancing your CV and employability.

How do I apply?

Funding is limited and will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis. Current undergraduate Swansea University students are eligible to apply. Postgraduate students can also apply for funding but must provide evidence that their academic supervisor approves of their participation. Additional funding is available for eligible students through the Global Wales Discover programme.

  1. Apply for Go Global funding using one simple form:
Download the Virtual Summer Funding Application Form 2021 and return by email to lucy.v.williams@swansea.ac.uk. We will then check your eligibility and confirm if you have been awarded funding. As part of this, we will automatically check if you are eligible to receive the Widening Participation (WP) funding. The level of funding awarded will be dependent on your programme cost. Programmes are not fully-funded.
The Go Global team will confirm your funding eligibility and send you a Participation Agreement to sign.
  2. Apply to your chosen virtual summer programme (Think Pacific deadline 5pm on 7th June 2021)
Apply to your chosen programme directly. We will require confirmation of your acceptance onto the course. You will need to pay a £95 programme fee direct to Think Pacific. Funding from Swansea University is paid directly to Think Pacific by Go Global on your behalf for the remainder of your programme costs. If you have been awarded additional WP funding, you will receive a £50 reimbursement of your programme fee from Swansea University once your programme has begun.
  3. Start your programme:
Funding will only be processed once we receive evidence of your acceptance and enrolment on the programme. Please note this means that if you are due the £50 WP reimbursement refered to above, you will only receive this once your programme has started. Please factor this in to your budgeting.
