Our Students' Union supports over 150 societies

Swansea University has a strong campus-based student community.  From visual arts to poker; real ale to gospel, the Students' Union most likely has the perfect society for you - and if it doesn't, the Union makes it easy for you to start your own!

Joining a club or society is a great way to meet like-minded people and make new friends.  It can also give you valuable transferable skills for gaining future employment - especially if you take a lead role in the running of the group.

You can browse or sign up to a sports club or society at any time by visiting the Students’ Union website. There will be lots of opportunities to find out more about what they have to offer during the welcome period.

For the full list of societies, and for more information, please visit the Students' Union website Societies page.

Hi, I'm Georgia your Students' Union Sports Officer!

Hi, I’m Georgia and I’m your Elected Sports Officer for the academic year.

During my time at Swansea, I became a part of the water polo team. It was the best decision I made in my three years of University.

Alongside playing water polo I was heavily involved with the swimming team being the social secretary in my second year and captain in my third, so sport was a massive part of my student life, and I’d love it to be yours too.

Swansea Student Media

Students can volunteer to get involved with any of the University's three media channels, and will be given training and help to develop their journalistic skills.  Practical work experience is also available, both on the student publications themselves and in outside organisations.  Many ex-Waterfronters now work professionally in the media - but students who simply want to write for fun are also welcome!

Swansea University has a student-run newspaper the Waterfront, which is run by a large team of student writers, photographers, designers and web developers.

There is also a student radio station based on campus.  Xtreme Radio has both live and recording studios, where students can host and produce their own shows.  Anyone is welcome to get involved, and past members of the Xtreme radio Society have gone on to have successful careers in radio.  Xtreme works closely with BBC Radio to provide training for its members.

Swansea University Students' Union official TV station SUTV record, edit and publish video content online with the aim to promote and publicise the students’ experience at the university through events, societies and sports.
