Dr. Sarp obtained his Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), South Korea, after receiving both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Ege University, Turkey.

During his Ph.D. studies, he worked as a research associate at Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA), Las Vegas, and as a part time instructor at the University of Las Vegas Nevada (UNLV). Previously, Dr. Sarp was a Senior Scientist at QEERI, Qatar.

Dr. Sarp is the author/co-author of 30 peer reviewed articles, 1 book, 4 book chapters, and 5 intellectual properties. Dr. Sarp is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Case Studies in Chemical and Environmental Engineering (CSCEE – Elsevier) and a member of the Editorial Board of Desalination Journal (Elsevier).

EG-210 Thermodynamics of Process Design

This module continues to develop further the fundamentals of thermodynamics studied in the Year 1 course (EGA114). It will develop the general applications needed in process engineering with particular reference to reactor design, separation processes, flow processes, heat engines and energy balance techniques.
EGA114 Chemical Engineering Science

This module will introduce fundamental principles of thermodynamics, physical chemistry and mass transfer relevant to the course including: gas behaviour; properties of pure substances and mixtures; laws of thermodynamics and their applications to energy and state calculations; phase equilibria; diffusive and convective mass transfer; and mass transfer coefficients.
EGCM36 Desalination

Desalination is an important process in the management of water resources and it has a large societal, economic and environmental impact. This module will give engineering students a solid grounding in desalination and related separation processes. This will prove invaluable for a future career in many areas of engineering.
EGP201 Year 2 Chemical Practical

This module provides practical experience of conducting bench-scale experimental studies in order to observe, control, record and characterise the behaviour of these systems under specified conditions. Background: This module is for Year 2 Chemical Engineering Students and involves Year 1 laboratory activities which could not run in the 20_21 academic year. The module is therefore comprised of several practical activities drawn from modules EG-101, EGA109 and EG110. However, EGP201 activities do not extend to report writing and submission of coursework as students have previously completed these tasks. Therefore, this module essentially involves undertaking practical activities in a laboratory environment and completing these tasks is the basis of the Pass/Fail component for the module.
