Robert John Hobbs completed his PhD in Chemistry at Bangor University in 2015. Robert’s PhD focussed on the development of a novel universal magnetic carrier for use in cancer prodrug therapy. Since this Robert has worked as a postdoctoral researcher on a number of projects in the fields of biosensors and diagnostics as well as photovoltaics and energy materials. Dr Hobbs is now the Business Manager for the Celtic Advanced Life Sciences Innovation Network (CALIN). The network is a €17M EU-funded Ireland-Wales life science network that was established in late 2016 the network is now funded until mid 2023. He has wide variety of academic experience. Now specialising in academic-business collaboration, he has been involved with a number of projects that focus on innovation through collaboration in the life sciences field. In his current role he works closely with Irish and Welsh University partner institutions and health services to support business across the sector.
