After gaining his PhD at the University of Leeds School of Chemistry, Dr Bannister has held postdoctoral positions at Imperial College, Boston Biomedical Research Institute, and Cardiff University. He moved to Swansea in 2017 as a British Heart Foundation funded PI where he is a researcher in the Molecular Cardiology group and Radiation Protection Supervisor for the School of Medicine. His research is centred on understanding mechanisms of pharmacological regulation of the ryanodine receptor.
