Dr Ruth Atkins joined the School of Law in 2018 as Module Director for Contract Law, having lectured for many years at Aberystwyth University. Following her first degree in Law and Criminal Justice, her early career was spent in commercial management in the IT and healthcare services sectors. A return to academia enabled her to gain an LLM in International Business Law followed by a fully funded scholarship to research for her PhD on ‘Computers, Software & Contractual Liability’. Her research has been published in leading contract law and information technology law journals and she is an experienced supervisor and examiner of LLM and PhD candidates in the fields of contract, commercial and copyright law.
Ruth holds a PGCE in HE and has been a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2007. She received a Teaching Excellence Award in 2013 and a further Learning and Teaching Online Award in 2015.
She has co-authored the previous two editions of Koffman and Macdonald’s Law of Contract (2014) and (2018) with Professor Emeritus Elizabeth Macdonald and very much enjoys teaching Contract Law.
