Dr. Denis Dennehy (Ph.D.) is an Associate Professor of Business Analytics (Research) and School Research Lead at the School of Management, Swansea University, Wales. His research primarily focuses on the mediating role of emerging technologies and analytics, and its implications for people, organisations, and society. This research has been published in leading journals including International Journal of Operations & Production Management, European Journal of Operational Research, Information Systems Frontiers, Information & Management, Information Technology & People, International Journal of Production Research, Government Information Quarterly, Journal of Systems & Software, Project Management Journal, and IEEE.

He is a Senior Editor of Information Technology & People, and editorial member with IEEE Transactions on Technology & Society (IEEE TTS) and International Journal of Information Management Data Insights (IJIM Data Insights). He has edited special issues including Information Systems Frontiers, IT & People, Communications of the Association for Information Systems, International Journal of Information Management, and Journal of Decision Systems.

He has chaired many conferences related to his discipline including Conference Chair of The 20th IFIP (I3E2021) Conference e-Business, e-Services, and e-Society (Ireland), IoT Track Chair at IFIP WG8.6 Working Conference 2020 (India), Proceedings Chair for the Open Symposium on Open Collaboration (OpenSym 2017) and Associate Editor for ECIS and ICIS.

Previously he was Assistant Professor (Business Information Systems) and a funded investigator at the Lero | Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Software, at the School of Business & Economics, NUI Galway (Ireland). He was Director of the largest MSc (Business Analytics) programme in Ireland which received the inaugural Dean's Award for Inclusive Teaching (Team Award) in 2019 and it was ranked No. 1 (Value for Money) by QS rankings in 2020. Denis was a recipient of the 2021 'Teaching Hero' award; a national award that recognises nominees for being innovative or inspiring teachers.

He is a Senior Member with IEEE, Senior Fellow at University of Turku, Finland, and visiting academic at ICN Business School, France. He completed his Ph.D., M.Sc., and B.Sc. in Business Information Systems at University College Cork (Ireland).

MN-1526 Managing in the Digital Age

This module provides the student with a broad overview of the management functions while introducing the opportunities that digital technologies provides businesses today to achieve competitive advantage. The module provides a contemporary curriculum that meets the needs of industry in the 21st century, by underpinning each topic within the digital context within which the business is situated. The module introduces the students to three main topic areas: the first provides an overview of the management functions within the context of the digital age, it then explains the importance of managing big data, data, information, knowledge as well as processes, to enhance competitive advantage, and lastly addresses the key leadership and management issues faced within the digital age.

MN-2520 Business Analytics

Business analytics as applied to big data is a game-changing opportunity for business practice. The last decade has seen an explosion in the volume of data collected by business and government ¿ providing opportunities to analyse behaviours at individual and macro- levels. The purpose of this module is to inform students as to the major concepts of business analytics ¿ both in theory and in practice from a strategic perspective.
MN-D019 Business Project

This module offers students the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills developed in MN-M595 Business Project Foundations. Specifically, students will be tasked with a real-world problem from industry partners and will have to apply the concepts learnt in Business Projects Foundations to complete the task. In groups, students will investigate these problems and present recommendations and solutions, based on a robust exercise in evidence gathering and critical analysis. The focus on this module is developing understanding of the workplace research process and how best this can be done.
MN-M525 Project Management

This module is intended to provide students with a thorough understanding of the project management process and the ability to undertake management of projects in practice. This includes the use of computer based project management software for planning and control.
MN-M533 Managing the digital firm: Information Systems today

This module deals with the management of information technology and systems as practiced in organizations today. It provides coverage of the critical organizational activities devoted to the maintenance of the technological infrastructure required by modern organizations, including management, strategy and planning.
MN-M549 Research Methods

This module will provide an introduction to the fundamentals of research methods and methodologies to better prepare students on how to conduct a dissertation. The lectures and seminars will be split to cover both the theoretical and practical nature associated with research. They will cover all aspects of research methods: from what is research, the ethics associated with conducting research, the literature review, methodology and what types of research exist such as quantitative and qualitative. This module will highlight the links that exist between each stage of the research development process.
