About

Bridie Angela Evans is a qualitative researcher with a particular interest in collaborative research between patients, carers, members of the public, communities and researchers. She leads Public Involvement and Engagement for PRIME Centre Wales (http://www.primecentre.wales/) and in the Health Services Research team at Swansea University Medical School. Her PhD was about the structures, processes and impacts of involving patients in a programme of research about managing chronic conditions. During this, she collaborated with a number of patients and carers to coproduce a group called SUCCESS (Service Users with Chronic Conditions Encouraging Sensible Solutions). Building on this experience, she coordinated development of a public/patient group called SUPER (Service Users for Primary and Emergency care Research), which she supports.

Developing and undertaking health services research which involves patients and members of the public is a priority in the Health Service Research Team. This way of working has been celebrated with awards for involvement in the SAFER 2 study and the HEAR study.

Bridie also leads and undertakes qualitative research within teams studying ways to improve delivery of primary and pre-hospital emergency care services.
