Welcome to Modern Languages, Translation and Interpreting

We offer undergraduate degrees, covering a range of modern languages (French, German, and Spanish), along with the related disciplines of translation and interpreting, with opportunities to study and work abroad.

Our postgraduate taught programmes cover translation-related specialisms, and we also offer the opportunity to undertake postgraduate research relating to modern languages, translation and interpreting.

To support your studies, we have PC labs equipped with the latest industry translation software, a conference interpreting suite, a state-of-the-art eye-tracker, as well as excellent print and library resources. All students benefit from our dedicated language labs, with access to language channels and an extensive archive of foreign language films.

Teaching and learning on our degrees are reinforced by extra-curricular activities organised by the Swansea University student-led language societies, weekly Language Cafés and other social events, all of which are supported by members of staff in the Department. We offer the chance to study several European languages through the medium of Welsh.
