Disclosing your disability or medical condition

It is not always easy to let other people know about your disability or medical condition. You are not obliged to disclose information about your disability or medical condition; it is your decision whether to share this information.

You can disclose a disability at any time during your studies, however, we strongly urge you to disclose your disability or specific learning difficulty at the earliest opportunity. This will enable University staff to provide help and support appropriate to your individual needs.

At whatever point you decide to disclose a disability or medical condition, Inclusive Student Support Services will be on hand to offer support, advice and guidance.

If you do tell us about your disability or medical condition, then we will hold that information confidentially within Inclusive Student Support Services. We will not disclose your disability to other University staff without your consent. The only exception to this rule is in cases where you, or others would be at risk and we have no choice but to act on our duty of care.

For further information, please refer to the Inclusive Student Support Services privacy statement.
