Between 2014–2020, Wales will benefit from around £1.8bn European Structural Funds investment.

The EU Structural Funds help support people into work and training, youth employment, research and innovation, business (SMEs) competitiveness, renewable energy and energy efficiency, and connectivity and urban development.

ACNM

Avenues of Commercialisation for Nano and Micro technologies (ACNM) supports companies with a need to expand and deliver on a company critical idea. AMBER

AMBER is a €6.2 million research and innovation project led by Swansea University under Horizon 2020.

Computational Foundry

‌The Computational Foundry will drive research into computational science and make Wales a global destination for computational scientists and industrial partners.  Building work on the Foundry is due to begin in November with occupation from September 2018.

DIPFSCC (Developing Innovation Performance in Firms and Supply Chain Clusters) is a Swansea University led SMARTExpertise project funded by the ERDF. It will address barriers to innovation and the development of new R&D with a Welsh-based manufacturing supply chain.

ION leadership

The ION leadership programme (Leading Business Growth West Wales) is designed to develop and enhance the leadership skills of owners, managers and key decision-makers of businesses.  Delivered by business experts, the courses are based on practical, experiential learning.

SMARTAQUA

SMARTAQUA aims to expand non-food aquaculture businesses in Wales. Aquaculture – the production of aquatic organisms – is the world’s fastest growing food industry, but it is also highly competitive. In comparison, the non-food aquaculture industry (e.g. production of cleaner fish and nutraceuticals from algae) is a niche market, driven by science, where Wales can take the lead.
