No, we haven’t. For undergraduate courses, we have a guaranteed offer scheme, which means that everyone who applies will receive an offer (some course exceptions apply). We are always flexible with offers, so please get in touch if you feel that you will have difficulty in meeting the terms of your offer. 

Although the university sector in the UK has seen more students applying this year, this isn’t due to students deferring from last year. The increase is due to an increase in the number of 18 year olds in the UK, and a higher proportion of those have applied to go to university this year. It is more competitive this year, but we do expect to have some places available during clearing. If you are worried about meeting the terms of your offer, please do get in touch.  

We are proud to provide an outstanding educational experience, using the most effective learning and teaching approaches, carefully tailored to suit the specific needs of your course. Apart from a small number of online-only courses, most of our courses consist of in-person, on-campus teaching, enabling full engagement with your lecturers and fellow students.

Practical skills sessions, lab work seminars, and workshops predominantly take place in person, allowing for group working and demonstrations. We also operate virtual labs and simulated learning environments which will facilitate greater access to training opportunities in the future. However, our approach also includes the use of some online learning to support and enhance traditional face-to-face teaching.

Online learning may take place ‘live’ using software such as Zoom, allowing you to interact with the lecturer and other students and to ask questions. Lecture recordings also allow for more flexibility to revisit material, to revise for assessments and to enhance learning outside of the classroom. Some modules have extra resources in Canvas, such as videos, slides and quizzes enabling further flexible study.

Our students are back enjoying a full range of social and sporting activities with few restrictions due to Covid. Swansea offers a huge range of indoor and outdoor activities, including a lively nightlife with the usual bars, restaurants and shopping experiences. Our location is perfect for watersports, walking, running, climbing and you can choose to take part in many different sports at Swansea Bay Sport Park and beyond.

If you are a UK student, you will be expected to attend on campus learning activities, such as seminars, lectures in small groups, lab sessions and workshops. While some of your learning, such as large lectures, will be online, you won't be able to study all of your course online. This may change in line with any changes to future government guidance. 

We realise that you have had your education disrupted and may lack some confidence in your study skills. There will be opportunities to improve your study skills both before you arrive at university and when you are on campus. Our Centre for Academic Success is brilliant at providing learning opportunities about referencing, essay writing and study skills.  

If you have a disability and haven’t yet told us about it on your application, please get in touch as soon as you can so we can ensure you receive the correct support when you arrive.

We strongly recommend that you apply as soon as possible to give you the best possible chance of securing accommodation on the campus of your choice.

You will need to isolate in your accommodation. The University offers support with food and wellbeing if you have to self-isolate or have Covid.

Swansea University prides itself on the wellbeing support we offer to our students. We’ve recently invested more into our mental health support service and universities have been given some additional funding this year to support students. We also offer Togetherall, the digital mental health service. 

We realise that students will have had their education disrupted and may not feel confident in their subject knowledge or study skills. Please don’t worry. We can offer additional support from our Centre for Academic Success and your subject lecturers will be evaluating your knowledge and endeavouring to bring you up to speed when you arrive.  

If you are struggling with financial support, our CampusLife Money team are on hand to offer advice and support. We have a student hardship fund which you can access if you need to. We also offer additional support to care leavers and have a Student+ scheme which you can access if you are a student parent, carer, estranged student or care leaver. 

Our CampusLife team offer all kinds of support and are there to help you. They can signpost you to the correct service that you need. The Students’ Union also has support you can access.
